Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our minimalist wardrobe consultation services.

What exactly is a minimalist wardrobe?

A minimalist wardrobe is a curated collection of clothing that contains only items you love, wear regularly, and that work well together. It's not necessarily about having fewer clothes (though that's often a result), but rather about being intentional about what you own. The focus is on quality over quantity, versatility, and personal style rather than passing trends.

How does the consultation process work?

Our consultation process typically involves four main steps:

  1. Initial consultation to discuss your lifestyle, preferences, and goals
  2. Wardrobe assessment to evaluate your current clothing collection
  3. Strategy development for creating a more cohesive, functional wardrobe
  4. Implementation and follow-up support

The specific approach will be tailored to your needs and can include various services such as closet editing, personal shopping, outfit creation, and styling advice.

Will I have to get rid of all my clothes?

Absolutely not! Our goal is not to force you to discard items you love, but to help you identify which pieces truly serve you and which ones don't. We'll work together to determine what stays and what goes, always respecting your preferences and attachment to certain items.

Many clients find that they naturally want to pare down once they see how much better their wardrobe functions with fewer, more intentional pieces, but the decision is always yours.

How much does it cost?

Our service packages range from $150 for an Essential Consultation to $300 for a Complete Wardrobe Reset. We also offer a Personal Shopping Experience for $250. Each package is designed to provide excellent value for the investment.

For detailed pricing information and what's included in each package, please visit our services section or contact us for a customized quote.

Do I need to prepare anything before the consultation?

For the initial consultation, no special preparation is needed beyond being ready to discuss your style preferences, lifestyle needs, and wardrobe goals.

For a wardrobe assessment, it's helpful to have all your clothing clean and accessible. We'll need to see everything you own, including seasonal items, special occasion wear, and accessories.

We'll provide more specific guidance before your appointment to ensure you get the most value from our time together.

Will you make me buy expensive clothes?

Not at all. While we do emphasize quality over quantity, this doesn't necessarily mean expensive. Our recommendations will always respect your budget and personal values.

We can help you identify where to invest in higher-quality pieces and where more affordable options are appropriate. We can also suggest ways to enhance your existing wardrobe without buying anything new, such as alterations or new styling combinations.

What areas do you serve?

We primarily serve Auckland and the surrounding areas for in-person consultations. However, we also offer virtual consultations for clients throughout New Zealand and internationally.

For in-person consultations outside of Auckland, travel fees may apply. Please contact us for more information.

How long does the process take?

The timeline varies depending on your specific needs and the package you choose:

  • Essential Consultation: 2 hours
  • Complete Wardrobe Reset: 4 hours, often split across two sessions
  • Personal Shopping Experience: 3 hours

Many clients find that they benefit from follow-up sessions every season or every six months as their lifestyle evolves and their wardrobe needs change.

What if I'm not sure about my personal style?

That's completely normal and a common reason people seek our services! Helping you discover and define your personal style is a key part of our process.

We'll use various methods to uncover your preferences, including discussing your lifestyle, analyzing items you currently love wearing, looking at inspiration images, and asking targeted questions about your tastes and comfort levels.

By the end of our work together, you'll have a much clearer understanding of your personal style and how to express it through your wardrobe.

How sustainable is your approach?

Sustainability is a core value of our business. Our approach promotes sustainability in several ways:

  • Encouraging mindful consumption and reduced waste
  • Focusing on quality items that last longer
  • Making the most of what you already own
  • Providing information about sustainable brands and materials
  • Offering guidance on proper garment care to extend their life
  • Suggesting responsible ways to donate or recycle items you no longer need

We believe that a well-curated wardrobe naturally leads to more sustainable habits and reduced environmental impact.
